Watt suffered a deep cut on the bridge of his nose that required six stitches during Houston’s Week 4 loss to the Seahawks. The wound has opened each game since, and the defensive end told The Associated Press that — at the behest of his mother — he will consider getting plastic surgery after the season to repair his nose.
“She hates it,” Watt said.
He did acknowledge that surgery may not be necessary, though, as the injury may heal itself. Watt said that the laceration had looked a lot better during the Texans’ bye week before opening up again in the following game.
“Once it gets times to heal up and rest, it goes back to pretty normal,” he said. “We’ll see what happens. If it doesn’t heal itself, then I will look into getting it fixed.”
At least Watt, one of the lone bright spots on a miserable Texans team this season, will have no problem finding time to schedule an appointment. At 2-13, Houston is miles out of the playoff picture, with this Sunday’s game against Tennessee guaranteed to be its last of the year.
Alex Smith was very nice to his linemen this year.
