Rob Gronkowski Suffers Leg Injury, Is Carted Off Field After Vicious Hit in Patriots-Brown Game (GIF)

Seemingly just as he returns to full health, Rob Gronkowski suffers another brutal injury.

Gronkowski, who had returned to his usual levels of production after finally returning from a bevy of offseason surgeries, had to be carted off the field at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, after a vicious hit from Browns safety T.J. Ward left him writhing in pain.

Gronkowski suffered the injury while pulling in a 21-yard catch midway through the third quarter on Sunday. As he corralled the ball and moved to extend the play, Ward came barreling through and dove at his legs to try and bring down the beastly tight end. Gronkowski’s right knee seemed to buckle from the hit, and he was left screaming in pain on the ground before trainers tended to him.

Gronkowski was unable to walk off the field under his own power, so he had to be taken back to the locker room on the back of the emergency cart. He was officially ruled out of the Patriots game after being taken to the locker room. He had two catches for 32 yards in the game before the injury.
