Shawn Thornton ‘Can’t Say I’m Sorry Enough’ After Brooks Orpik Incident, Says He’s ‘Aware’ He Made Mistake (Video)

The Bruins’ win over the Penguins on Saturday night was marred by a scary play that occurred in the first period.

Both teams came out of the gates with plenty of fire, but the escalating physical play ultimately led to a scary sequence of events as Brad Marchand took a knee to the head from James Neal, leading Shawn Thornton to go after Brooks Orpik, who had laid a huge hit on Loui Eriksson earlier in the game.

Thornton took Orpik down to the ice, throwing a couple of punches while he was down, and as a result, Orpik had to be stretchered off the ice. After the game, the Bruins enforcer spoke with emotion and regret regarding the situation, saying it wasn’t his intention, he felt awful all game and he knows he made a mistake.
