Being aerodynamic in bobsledding is important, since a win can come down to a tenth of a second. That means bobsled racing suits must be as tight as possible to eliminate drag — and that means racers sometimes have to sacrifice comfort.
U.S. bobsledder Lolo Jones recently showed off the suit her team will wear at the Olympic Games in Sochi, and the Under Armour threads are similar to what speed skaters and skeleton racers don. The skin-tight technology doesn’t come without its pitfalls, though — a British bobsledder ripped her suit in 2010 — but that’s the price you pay for speed.
