Moth Lands On Ice At Dodger Stadium, Delays Stadium Series Game (Video)

The only predictable thing about playing outdoor hockey games is that there is nothing predictable about them. Whether it’s heavy snow coating the ice during the game, or warmer climates causing divots in the ice, outdoor hockey always contends with the elements.

Saturday night’s Stadium Series game at Dodger Stadium was no different, only that game dealt with things more insect in nature. During the third period of the Anaheim Ducks’ and Los Angeles Kings’ outdoor matchup, a good-sized moth descended onto the ice and flailed around for a while next to Kings goalie Jonathan Quick.

One of the linesmen did his best to pick the little bugger up, but to no avail. After unsuccessful attempts to smash the moth with a hockey stick and run over it with a skate, play resumed without a hitch. While moths can be a nuisance, they’re nothing compared to bats.
