Potter, a right-shot defenseman, has played in just 16 games for Edmonton this season, tallying zero goals and five assists. He has played in 120 games for the Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers since making his NHL debut in 2008.
Potter’s most productive season came in 2011-12, when he totaled four goals and 17 assists in 62 games.
