The 1992 Boston Bruins were down one game to the Buffalo Sabres in the Adams Division semifinals, and were fighting to make a comeback in overtime. That’s when former Bruins center Adam Oates stepped up in the clutch.
Oates scored directly off of a face-off to seal the Bruins’ 3-2 victory over Buffalo in the semifinals, tying the series up.
The B’s went on to win in the conference semifinals, sweep the Montreal Canadiens Adams Division finals and were eventually swept by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Wales Conference finals that year.
