Former BU Coach Jack Parker Named Hobey Baker Legend Of Hockey

Former Boston University men’s hockey coach Jack Parker has a distinguished resume that includes three NCAA championships, seven Hockey East tournament crowns and 21 Beanpot titles.

He added another honor to that impressive list Tuesday when the Hobey Baker Memorial Award Foundation announced that Parker is the 2014 Legend of Hockey recipient.

Parker spent 40 years as head coach of the Terriers and retired after the 2012-13 season.

Parker’s No. 6 was retired to the rafters at Agganis Arena during a special ceremony Feb. 28 to honor his legacy with the program.

According to the press release, this year’s winner of the Hobey Baker Award, which recognizes the most outstanding player in NCAA Division I men’s hockey, will be revealed Friday. Chris Drury (1998) and Matt Gilroy (2009) won the Hobey Baker at BU during Parker’s tenure.
