Mikel Arteta’s Tooth Goes Flying During Arsenal-Hull City Game (GIF)

Mikel Arteta isn’t smiling about Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Hull City on Sunday. It’s not because he’s unhappy about the result. He’s a little sheepish because he lost one of his front teeth during the game.

Arteta collided with Hull City forward Shane Long in the first half. Long’s arm hit Arteta in the mouth, dislodging his tooth. Arteta briefly left the game for treatment before returning to the Arsenal midfield for the duration of the the  contest.

After the game, Arteta joined a few of his smiling teammates in a celebratory postgame photo but decided against showing off his new smile.

Our crystal ball tells us that there is a visit to the dentist in Arteta’s future.
