Report: Ryan Malone Arrested On DUI, Suspicion Of Cocaine Possession

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Ryan Malone was arrested Saturday morning on charges of driving under the influence and suspicion of cocaine possession.

A Tampa police officer pulled Malone over after he hit a curb with his car. The officer then discovered that the 34-year-old left winger had a bag of cocaine in his pocket, according to WFLA-TV.

“We are aware of the situation concerning Ryan Malone this morning,” Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman said in a statement. “Ryan will not travel with the team to Washington (Saturday), but beyond that we cannot comment further at this time.”

Malone was booked at 5:40 a.m. with a blood alcohol level of .112 and .116, which is over Florida’s legal limit of .08. He has played 10 seasons in the NHL, including the past six with the Lightning, and has one year remaining on his current contract.

Malone was released from jail at 9:56 a.m. after posting a $2,500 bond.
