As part of their year-long celebration of Wrigley Field’s 100th anniversary, the Cubs gave away a “called shot” bobblehead (commemorating a World Series they lost, something only the Cubs could do) and had his 97-year-old daughter, Julia Ruth Stevens, throw out the first pitch.
As reported by Cut4, Stevens is still a huge baseball fan and watches games all summer from her home in New Hampshire. But who she roots for may actually surprise you.
Stevens was just a toddler when her father was traded to the Yankees, so one would assume that she would root for the team that she remembers her father playing for. However, it seems that the family’s allegiance didn’t change when Ruth was traded.
“I pull for the Red Sox,” Stevens said. “Daddy started with the Red Sox.”
Check out the rest of what the historic slugger’s daughter said in her visit to the booth at Wrigley in the video below.
