When the Boston Red Sox started the 2014 season slowly, some wondered if they lacked the same chemistry that helped them become World Series champions in 2013.

But the boys got together for a little male bonding on their off day Monday.

Jonny Gomes, Mike Napoli, Shane Victorino, David Ross and Mike Carp all made a day trip to Jake Peavy’s family’s ranch, Southern Falls Plantation, in rural Alabama. And as is evident from photos posted by Napoli and Peavy’s younger brother, Luke, the guys had a great time.

Even though more of the team didn’t hang out with the Peavy family (probably to avoid the 1,100-mile trip to Minneapolis to play the Twins on Tuesday night), some of the rest of the team had fun, too.

Will Middlebrooks and Dustin Pedroia spent their day in the Mall of America outside of Minneapolis to enjoy its theme park and arcade.
