The Boston Bruins forced overtime in Game 1 against the Montreal Canadiens with a late third-period goal from defenseman Johnny Boychuk.
With 1:58 remaining in regulation Thursday night, Boychuk fired a shot from the point that beat Canadiens goaltender Carey Price, who was screened in front of the net and didn’t see the puck.
There are a lot of reasons why Boychuk is a fan favorite in Boston. He gives maximum effort on every shift, dishes out huge hits and scores important playoff goals. Boychuk also provides some of Boston’s best goal celebrations, and we saw his latest idea in the second-round playoff series opener after his game-tying goal. He’s certainly reinventing the goal celebration game.
