Pedroia suffered the injury in the second inning while diving to field a throw from catcher A.J. Pierzynski on Wil Myers’ stolen base, according to manager John Farrell. Pedroia left the game after grounding out to end the ninth inning with runners at second and third. He was replaced at second base in the 10th inning by Jonathan Herrera.
Farrell said after the game that an initial fluoroscan was negative. Pedroia went 1-for-4 with a walk in the victory.
