Dustin Pedroia’s 100th Career Home Run With Red Sox A Grand Slam (Video)

BOSTON — Dustin Pedroia celebrated his 100th career home run in style.

Pedroia launched a grand slam into the first row of Monster seats in the sixth inning Friday to give the Boston Red Sox a 6-1 lead over the Oakland Athletics at Fenway Park. The umpires took another look at the grand slam to make sure it cleared the wall, but the initial call was upheld after a review lasting approximately one minute, five seconds.

Friday’s blast — which came off A’s reliever Ryan Cook — marked the second grand slam of Pedroia’s career. The All-Star second baseman also reached the 500-RBI plateau with the long ball, on which Xander Bogaerts, A.J. Pierzynski and Jackie Bradley Jr. all scored ahead of Pedey.
