The 6-foot-0, 227-pound Williams was a workhorse for Boston College last season, carrying the ball 355 times for 2,177 yards and 18 touchdowns. That production made him a Heisman Trophy finalist.
The Giants chose Williams despite his inexperience in the passing game, considered a necessity for NFL prospects. Williams caught just 10 passes during his career and none in 2013.
Williams rushed for 267 yards and five touchdowns in a win over Army last October, then had three consecutive games to remember in November, going for 295 yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries in a win over New Mexico State, 339 yards and two touchdowns on 42 carries in a win over North Carolina State and had 263 yards and two scores on 32 carries in a win over Maryland.
