Rays’ Cesar Ramos Makes Sick Behind-The-Back Snag Against Red Sox (Video)

BOSTON — Tampa Bay Rays starter Cesar Ramos didn’t earn a win in the first game of Thursday’s doubleheader against the Red Sox at Fenway Park. But the left-hander added an impressive Web Gem to his résumé.

Ramos made a nifty, behind-the-back snag to rob Jackie Bradley Jr. of a base hit with the Rays leading 2-1. The play certainly was as much a product of luck as it was skill, but let’s not take anything away from what Ramos accomplished.

The play was relatively big, too, considering Ramos walked Shane Victorino and David Ortiz in the fifth inning before Rays manager Joe Maddon called upon Brandon Gomes to escape the jam. Tampa Bay eventually held on for a 2-1 victory.
