Dioner Navarro Tries For Inside-The-Park Homer, Fails Miserably (Video)

The Toronto Blue Jays are no strangers to the long ball, as they lead the majors with 104 home runs.

Jays catcher Dioner Navarro, though, had some trouble when he tried to circle the bases Thursday night.

Already up five runs over the Chicago White Sox, Navarro looked to extend the Jays’ lead in the fifth inning. The catcher hit a seemingly routine fly ball to left field, but it was mishandled by outfielder Dayan Viciedo. Navarro barely reached second base when Viciedo’s throw went into foul territory up the right field line. Navarro lumbered around the bases and was waved home by his third base coach.

Despite his best efforts, the slow-footed catcher was nailed at home plate, and the Blue Jays bench greeted Navarro with laughter and sarcastic high fives in the dugout. Even with the mishap, Toronto went on to win the game 7-0.

Check out the video below of Navarro’s mad dash around the bases.
