Thursday’s 2014 FIFA World Cup game between USA and Germany may have taken place during the workday for most people, but that didn’t stop thousands from gathering in Boston to cheer on their team.

Mayor Marty Walsh held a viewing party at City Hall Plaza for the matchup. Some people stopped by to take a look during their lunch breaks, and some just called out of work.

Either way, the revelers enjoyed themselves despite the U.S.’s 1-0 loss, as they were able to advance to the knockout stage with Portugal’s 2-1 win over Ghana.
