Right-handed pitcher Rubby De La Rosa tossed a gem in his first major league start with the Boston Red Sox, dazzling over seven shutout innings on the way to his team’s sixth straight win Saturday night. The 25-year-old had already been turning heads this year in Pawtucket, and De La Rosa certainly didn’t shrink under the bright lights at Fenway Park.
When the Red Sox acquired De La Rosa in a trade with the Dodgers in 2012, pitching great Pedro Martinez made sure to tell Sox chairman Tom Werner exactly what kind of player the team was getting.
