Rafael Nadal Gets Life-Like Clay Statue After French Open Win (Photo)

Judging by his playing history, Rafael Nadal really likes clay. Now, thanks to Nike, he has become clay.

The Spanish tennis star defeated Novak Djokovic at Roland Garros on Sunday to win his fifth consecutive French Open title and become the first male tennis player to win the same Grand Slam title nine times.

After Nadal’s historic win, Nike thought it would be fitting to create a replica statue of its famous client out of the surface that he has become virtually unbeatable on. Naturally, Nadal loved it.

There’s no more appropriate substance to immortalize Nadal in than clay, as the 28-year-old has lost just once in 67 career matches at the French Open.

Whether a grass statue of Roger Federer will be constructed to honor his success at Wimbledon remains to be seen.
