Starting pitchers shouldn’t let their offense affect them, but it’s probably hard not to notice when your team can’t seem to put runs on the board every time you pitch.

With the second lowest run support in the American League, Boston Red Sox starter Jake Peavy has been a victim of this all season. Catcher A.J. Pierzynski said that they try to get runs for all of their pitchers and that the offense should take the blame for Peavy’s lack of success.

“I think a lot of our pitchers have that going because we haven’t been scoring runs that I think we’re capable of,” Pierzynski said. “I don’t think it’s Jake. I think it’s everybody.”
