Klay ThompsonWALTHAM, Mass. — If Boston Celtics fans want to avoid some more bad news, they might want to follow the instructions of director of player personnel Austin Ainge and ignore the following.

By making Klay Thompson available to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a potential deal, the Golden State Warriors have “greatly” increased their chances of landing Kevin Love in a trade, ESPN.com’s Marc Stein reports. This sweetens the deal considerably, since the Warriors’ existing offer is believe to be centered around David Lee and draft picks.

On the heels of a report that the Denver Nuggets have offered forward Kenneth Faried in a potential trade for Love, this news threatens to push the Celtics farther down the list of suitors for Love. As usual, though, we remind you to take each new development with a grain of salt until the momentum gets headed in a certain direction.
