Jon Lester has been downright unbeatable over the last six weeks.
When Lester took the mound on Sunday, the Boston Red Sox had not lost a game he started since June 12. That trend continued against the Kansas City Royals, as the lefthander turned in another dominant performance to win Amica Pitcher of the Week honors for the third straight week.
Lester lasted eight innings Sunday, allowing just four hits and no earned runs while striking out eight batters and walking two. He picked up his 10th win of the season for his efforts, as Boston cruised to a 6-0 victory.
Lester has allowed just one earned run in his last four starts and has lowered his ERA to 2.50, good for fourth-best in the American League among starting pitchers.
The 30-year-old lefty was named to his third All-Star Game this season, and the way he’s pitching right now, it’s easy to see why.
