Mike Carp, Burke Badenhop Combine For Awkward Out In Red Sox Win (Video)

Mike Carp and Burke Badenhop showed why these Boston Red Sox are worth watching, even when the score is one-sided.

Carp and Badenhop combined for a very unique out in the seventh inning of the Red Sox’s 8-3 win over the Houston Astros in Friday’s series opener at Minute Maid Park. Both players got dirty on the play, which ultimately retired Matt Dominguez for the final out of the frame.

Dominguez hit a ground ball to the right side that Carp dove for to knock down. The first baseman, getting the start in place of Mike Napoli, attempted to flip to Badenhop, who covered the bag. The result was a grounder that Badenhop somehow fielded with his bare hand.

One, it’s amazing Badenhop fielded the ball. Two, it’s amazing he managed to keep his foot on the bag for the out. And three, it’s amazing he didn’t get absolutely stomped by Dominguez while laying out into foul territory.

It was awesome. It was awkward.
