Red Sox Catcher David Ross Won’t Hit DL With Plantar Fasciitis (Video)

Boston Red Sox catcher David Ross was limping during Tuesday night’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays, and the team said plantar fasciitis was to blame.

However, the painful heel inflammation won’t sideline the 37-year-old catcher. Ross wasn’t scheduled to be behind the dish until Friday against the Tampa Bay Rays anyway, so he’ll get some rest with rookie catcher Christian Vazquez in the lineup.

Vazquez might even get more playing time, as Ross’ condition likely could have flared up as a result of his increased activity. Ross will, however, still be catching for Sox ace Jon Lester.

Hear more about the situation from The Boston Globe’s Peter Abraham in the video above.
