Yankees Acquire Chris Capuano From Rockies For Cash Considerations

Chris Capuano is returning to the American League East.

The New York Yankees acquired the left-handed pitcher from the Colorado Rockies for cash considerations, the team announced Thursday.

Capuano began the 2013-14 season with the Boston Red Sox, going 1-1 with a 4.55 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 28 relief appearances. The Red Sox released the 35-year-old on July 1, and he signed a minor-league deal with the Colorado Rockies on July 4.

The veteran posted a 3.07 ERA in three starts for the Triple-A Colorado Springs Sky Sox this season.

With four of the Yankees’ five Opening Day starters on the shelf, Capuano figures to serve in a starting role for the Bronx Bombers.
