Bud Bash Homers Of The Week: Bryce Harper’s Walk-Off HR Lifts Nationals

Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper has faced a lot of criticism for his down 2014 season. He quieted some of the talk with his clutch home run on Thursday afternoon.

Harper came up in the 13th inning of a tie game against the New York Mets and crushed a pitch from reliever Carlos Torres into the left field seats for a two-run, walk-off home run to lift the Nationals to victory.

Chicago Cubs rookie infielder Javier Baez turned heads with his fast start this week. Baez, playing in just his third big league game, had his first multihomer performance of his young career Thursday against the Colorado Rockies. Baez hammered a solo home run to left field for his first of the game, then went opposite field for his second blast of the contest in the eighth inning.

The rest of this week’s home runs include a grand slam from Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard, Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Carlos Gomez’s deep blast to left field at Miller Park and three consecutive home runs from Minnesota Twins Chris Parmelee, Oswaldo Arcia and Eric Fryer.
