Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana could make his Reds debut Sunday when the team travels to White Hart Lane to play Premier League opponent Tottenham Hotspur.
“Adam will be in the squad, for sure,” Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said earlier in the week, via the club’s website. “He has looked fantastic in training.
Lallana was one of Liverpool’s marquee summer signings after completing a move from Southampton. He missed the start of the league campaign after suffering a knee injury during a practice in Boston at the beginning of the Reds’ preseason tour.
Newly signed striker Mario Balotelli also is expected to debut for Liverpool on Sunday. The Reds lost their previous league game 3-1 to reigning champions Manchester City. Tottenham has begun the season with two victories.
