Minnesota United Player Scores Spectacular Bicycle-Kick Goal In NASL (GIF)

Judging by Christian Ramirez’s exploits, it’s fair to say Major League Soccer doesn’t have a monopoly on talent in the United States.

Ramirez, a striker for North American Soccer League (U.S. second division) club Minnesota United, scored one of the best goals of the weekend in his team’s 5-1 win over Indy Eleven on Saturday at NSC Stadium.

Ramirez was inside the Indy penalty area when he received a cross from teammate Justin Davis, chested the ball into the air and rifled a bicycle kick into the goal to put his team up 2-0 in the 37th minute.

The goal was Ramirez’s team-high seventh goal in six games in the 2014 Fall Season.

Ramirez said the bicycle-kick goal, “was my first one,” according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. “Backyards don’t count. I knew I had good contact but I didn’t know where it went until I looked up and everybody was yelling.”

Minnesota sits atop the NASL Fall Season standings.
