It’s been a long time since Adam McQuaid has played against another team at TD Garden.
More than eight months, to be exact, as the Boston Bruins defenseman missed 51 games during the 2013-14 season due to quad and ankle injuries. Yet McQuaid finally reunited with his Bruins teammates at the Garden on Wednesday night to skate to a 2-0 win over the Washington Capitals in Boston’s preseason home opener.
“It’s been a while,” McQuaid admitted to NESN’s Guerin Austin after the game. “It was fun to get out there and get into some battles and see the physicality side (of the game). I don’t mind that; I actually kind of enjoy it.”
The Bruins certainly will enjoy having a healthy McQuaid entering the 2014-15 season, as he provides an invaluable physical presence on Boston’s back line.
