The Boston Red Sox were aggressive when it came to acquiring the offensive talent they needed this season, and now they’ll need to do the same to fill the holes in their pitching staff.
The Red Sox traded away some big pieces to land outfielders Yoenis Cespedes and Allen Craig, and also opened their wallet to land outfielder Rusney Castillo. But The Boston Globe’s Nick Cafardo assured that the team still has plenty of money and trade options to get what it needs this offseason.
Cafardo even said Oakland Athletics ace Jon Lester — whom the Sox traded for Cespedes — isn’t out of the question. Boston has the funds to give him the contract he wants, so it’ll come down to if the sides want to negotiate.
