The Boston Red Sox essentially took a seven-year, $72.5 million gamble when they signed Cuban outfielder Rusney Castillo, but so far, there’s a good chance he could be the real deal.
The Boston Globe’s Pete Abraham joined “Red Sox Gameday Live” to discuss Castillo’s talents, and he figures that Boston’s newest weapon has the skills to be the club’s leadoff hitter of the future. Castillo has the speed and the ability to get on base that the Sox were looking for.
However, he might not be much of a power hitter, as the pitching in Cuba is not of the same caliber as the pitching in the U.S.
