Former Boston Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield is no stranger to facing the New York Yankees after spending 17 seasons as part of the rivalry.
In fact, the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry was in some of its most intense years while Wakefield was in Boston.
“(Facing the Yankees) was a grind,” Wakefield said. “It was like a World Series game or a postseason game every single time we played them whether it was here in Boston or there in New York.”
One player in particular whom Wakefield battled was Derek Jeter, as the two have faced each other more than anyone else in their careers.
