Alexander Ovechkin got the Washington Capitals on the board midway through the first period with a power-play goal against the Boston Bruins. Just over eight minutes later, Ovechkin struck again with his second goal of the night to put Washington up 2-0.
Nicklas Backstrom pounced on a free puck after a defensive breakdown from Boston and flipped a pass to Ovechkin, who buried a wrist shot from the slot for the goal.
