Arian Foster: I Don’t Know An NFL Player Who Likes Thursday Night Games

Arian Foster is preparing for the Houston Texans’ Thursday night game against the Indianapolis Colts, and he’s not happy about it.

The running back expressed his dislike of “Thursday Night Football,” saying he doesn’t believe the NFL has the players’ best interest in mind with the midweek games on the schedule.

“I don’t know a player that likes it,” Foster told The Houston Chronicle on Monday. “I really don’t know a fan that likes it, either. I think it’s just the league’s way of trying to generate more revenue.”

Foster doesn’t simply dislike playing on Thursdays, though. The three-time All-Pro believes the games actually are unsafe.

“They emphasize concussions when they start getting hit with lawsuits, and they care about the players’ safety, but ‘Thursday Night Football’ is putting every player on the football field in danger,” Foster said.

Foster isn’t the only player to express concern about the safety of Thursday night games. Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III expressed similar sentiments to The Hollywood Reporter back in July, saying “there are a lot of players out there who feel like there’s not enough days in the week…to be playing on Thursdays.”

With the ratings and revenue “TNF” brings in, however, it’s unlikely the games will go anywhere any time soon.
