The Boston Bruins needed a win, and they got one Thursday.
With a little help from Brad Marchand’s late-game heroics, the Bruins beat the Buffalo Sabres 3-2 in overtime to get themselves back to the .500 mark. Marchand scored the equalizer in the third period as well as the game-winner, and he notched an assist on Adam McQuaid’s second-period goal.
Marchand said it was just what the team needed after giving up three third-period goals Tuesday in a loss to the Minnesota Wild.
“We had a really tough breakdown last game, and we wanted to bounce back, and I think we had a good character win,” Marchand said. “We came into the third and got a goal, and it’s a big win for us.”
Marchand thinks the win will help them going forward.
“It definitely allows us to have something to build off of, and we want to make sure we go home and have a good practice tomorrow and make sure we continue to work on our game and get back to where we should be,” Marchand said.
