The Boston Bruins lost to the New York Islanders 3-2 on Thursday, and a sluggish start was the reason for that yet again.
The B’s didn’t play to their strengths in the first or second periods, and it was too late by the time they kicked up the aggressiveness in the third period. The fact that they lost big defenseman Zdeno Chara at the end of the first period didn’t help much either.
“Any time you lose a player like Zdeno who’s our team captain to start with, it’s a big loss,” Bruins coach Claude Julien said. “But again, you have to overcome those things, and you have to have the trust that you have the players in your dressing room to be able to compensate for that loss. And it just takes everybody to come up with their A-game and play their own game not trying to do too much.”
