The Landon Donovan love-fest officially is underway.
The U.S. Soccer federation released a stirring tribute video Wednesday, which celebrates Donovan’s 15-year career with the U.S. men’s national team.
U.S. Soccer charted Donovan’s path from youth-system standout to national team star to true icon of the sport in this country. Throughout, Donovan reflects on some of his biggest moments, including the United States’ run to the quarterfinal of the 2002 FIFA World Cup and that goal he scored against Algeria in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Donovan, who is retiring at the end of the 2014 MLS season, will play his 157th and final game for Team USA when it faces Ecuador in an exhibition game Friday night in East Hartford, Conn.
