Tragedy struck Canada’s capital Wednesday.
A gunman shot and wounded a Canadian soldier standing guard in Ottawa on Wednesday morning, according to TV and internet reports. The gunman then entered Parliament and fired more shots, according to reports.
The Ottawa Senators were scheduled to play a home game Wednesday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs. That game was postponed, the league announced.
“The National Hockey League wishes to express its sympathy to all affected by the tragic events that took place this morning in downtown Ottawa,” the league said Wednesday.
No makeup date has been announced.
The city was in lockdown as of Wednesday afternoon with gunmen reportedly on the loose. The Maple Leafs and forward Joffrey Lupul tweeted their condolences.
