The last time Hanley Ramirez wore a Boston Red Sox uniform, he was a September call-up with a bright future.
Ramirez had two at-bats late in the 2005 season and struck out both times.
Since then, the 30-year-old has compiled 1,403 hits, 822 runs and nearly 200 home runs. He also has made a handful of incredible plays in the field.
Now, the Red Sox hope Ramirez can bring his bat and glove to Boston and propel them to a fourth World Series title in 11 years after agreeing to a four-year contract with the Dominican slugger.
Here are some of Ramirez’s best plays from the 2014 season:
5. Showing range
Ramirez made this beautiful running grab against the Philadelphia Phillies.
4. Over-the shoulder grab
The Red Sox will feel pretty confident if Ramirez continues to make dazzling plays like this one against the Chicago Cubs.
3. Hammerin’ Hanley
Despite not being a part of the unique Red Sox-New York Yankees rivalry, Ramirez experienced a couple years of another heated rivalry when his Los Angeles Dodgers duked it out with the San Francisco Giants. He hit two home runs against his rivals in a winning effort.
2. Double dip
Ramirez flexed his muscles later against the Pittsburgh Pirates when he had his second multi-homer game of the season in a 12-2 win.
1. Walkin’ off
Ramirez’s most memorable moment of 2014 came in early August, when he drilled a three-run, walk-off homer in the 12th inning to propel the Dodgers past the Cubs.
