Connor McDavid’s ‘Dumb’ Decision To Fight Won’t Hurt Draft Status (Video)

The OHL’s Connor McDavid is the NHL’s top prospect and likely will be the No. 1 pick in the 2015 draft. But right now, he’s sidelined for five to six weeks with a broken hand that he sustained during a fight.

Should this be a reason to end fighting in hockey?

As Dale Arnold, Billy Jaffe and Barry Pederson pointed out on Thursday’s episode of “The Instigators,” it’s a complicated subject. McDavid’s injury isn’t serious enough to affect his draft stock, but it might keep him out of the World Junior Championships in December, a stage that scouts would like to see him on. What’s worse is that he sustained the injury doing something that he didn’t necessarily need to do.

On the other hand, Pederson mentions that some teams might like that fighting instinct and the fact that McDavid is willing to step up for his team.

Check out the video above, and see what you think about fighting in hockey.
