Torey Krug Takes Down Alex Galchenyuk In First Career NHL Fight (Video)

BOSTON — Torey Krug isn’t known for throwing fists, but he did what he had to in an effort to give his Bruins a spark Saturday night.

The Bruins trailed the Montreal Canadiens 2-0 midway through the third period when Krug began jostling with Habs center Alex Galchenyuk in front of the Boston net. That altercation quickly escalated, with Krug dropping the gloves, delivering one nice shot and tackling Galchenyuk to the ice.

Actually, it would be more accurate to say the B’s blueliner “dropped the glove.” If you look closely, you can see that Krug only exposed his right hand — clearly not wanting to further injure his broken left pinky finger, which sidelined him for four games earlier this month.

It was the first regular-season fight of Krug’s young NHL career, according to HockeyFights.com. His only other bout came during the 2013-14 preseason, when he traded blows with Detroit Red Wings forward David McIntyre.
