The Boston Bruins seemed to be moving in the right direction after Torey Krug tied things up with the Winnipeg Jets, but a last-minute goal in the second period ended up doing them in Friday night.
Krug struck early in the second period for the Bruins, and from there, the Black and Gold improved on a first period in which the Jets outshot them 16-4. In fact, Boston successfully held off Winnipeg for most of the middle frame.
Then Byfuglien happened.
With less than 30 seconds left in the period, the Jets defenseman received the puck at the Bruins’ blue line. Byfuglien noticed all of the bodies in front of the net, blocking the view of B’s goaltender Tuukka Rask, and took a shot right into traffic. The move worked, as the puck deflected off Mathieu Perreault and got past Rask.
Despite a solid third period, the Bruins couldn’t score and took a 2-1 loss.
