Report: Ex-Red Sox Craig Breslow Met With Mets At MLB Winter Meetings

Craig Breslow’s market could start to develop now that fellow left-handed reliever Andrew Miller is off the board.

Breslow is coming off a disappointing season with the Boston Red Sox, but the veteran southpaw has a track record of major league success. That success apparently was enough to catch the New York Mets’ attention.

Breslow posted a 5.96 ERA in 60 appearances spanning 54 1/3 innings in 2014. It was the worst season of Breslow’s nine-year career and was especially surprising given how well he pitched in 2013.

Breslow, who turned 34 in August, had a career-best 1.81 ERA in 61 regular-season appearances spanning 59 2/3 innings in 2013. He also pitched meaningful innings in the postseason amid Boston’s World Series run.

The Red Sox declined Breslow’s $4 million option at the beginning of the offseason.
