Jim Harbaugh could be on his way out of the NFL and headed for the Big Ten.

Maybe.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Wednesday, citing a source, that the San Francisco 49ers head coach is at least “considering” the six-year, $49 million contract offer extended to him by Michigan. Rumors have been flying around about the Wolverines’ interest in Harbaugh for weeks, but those in the know previously had said it wouldn’t happen.

If Harbaugh were to accept the gig, his $8.17 million yearly salary would be the biggest in college football, beating out Alabama’s Nick Saban by over $1.21 million.

Still, another source told Schefter that despite Harbaugh’s consideration, a move to the Midwest is “not likely.”
