Daniel Sturridge Takes Selfie With Steven Gerrard, Marks LFC Return (Photo)

Ladies and gentlemen, Daniel Sturridge is in the building.

Sturridge returned to Liverpool on Monday after a weeks-long rehab stint in the United States. He marked his return to Liverpool’s practice facility by taking a “selfie” with club captain Steven Gerrard, then posting the photo on Instagram for the world to see.

The G @stevengerrard This guy is a legend man... Real talk...

Thigh and calf injuries have sidelined Sturridge since early September, but he might be able to play competitive games by the end of January. Sturridge, Gerrard and Liverpool fans everywhere are keen for the injured 25-year-old striker to return to the lineup, as he was supposed to lead the Reds’ attack this season.

Liverpool has struggled in Sturridge’s absence, scoring just 29 goals in 21 Premier League games in 2014-15. Gerrard leads Liverpool in scoring this season with five goals in the Premier League and nine in all competitions. Sturridge likely will ease Gerrard’s workload once he finally plays again.

No wonder why Gerrard was all smiles when he saw Sturridge at Melwood for the first time in weeks.
