The Seattle Seahawks just advanced to the Super Bowl, but they already might be in for some bad news.
Star cornerback Richard Sherman injured his left arm while trying to tackle Green Bay Packers running back James Starks during the fourth quarter of his team’s 28-22 NFC Championship Game win Sunday. Sherman was visibly in pain, and ESPN’s Ed Werder reported that the cornerback is scheduled for an MRI on his left elbow Monday.
The injury didn’t keep Sherman out for the remainder of the game, which went into overtime, and the cornerback told reporters he would “100 percent be able to play” in Super Bowl XLIX against the New England Patriots. Of course, that will depend on the results of the MRI.
Seahawks free safety Earl Thomas injured his shoulder during the game and also will undergo an MRI on Monday, per ESPN. Both Sherman and Thomas are key players in Seattle’s “Legion of Boom” defense, and their health could make a difference on the outcome of their Super Bowl matchup with the Patriots.
