Hockey East Roundup: UNH Upsets No. 2 Boston University With 4-3 Win

The University of New Hampshire hasn’t enjoyed much success in Hockey East this season, but Saturday’s game at the Whittemore Center gave Wildcats fans plenty to cheer about.

UNH defeated No. 2 ranked Boston University 4-3 for its most impressive win of the season.

The Wildcats (11-17-2, 6-11-1 in Hockey East) dominated the first two periods and took a 4-0 lead into the third period. Freshman forwards Shane Eiserman and Warren Foegele, junior forward Jamie Hill and senior forward Jay Camper all scored for UNH.

The Terriers (19-5-4, 13-3-2 in Hockey East), as expected, mounted a furious comeback and nearly forced overtime. They scored three third-period goals, including two tallies from BU defenseman and Boston Bruins prospect Matt Grzelcyk. BU had several chances to tie the game over the final eight minutes of regulation, but UNH goaltender Daniel Tirone shut the door for his sixth win of the season.

The Terriers will have to wait until next Friday for a chance to clinch the regular season Hockey East championship.
