It started in the 1960s, when Joe Namath tortured the Patriots, and ran well into the 21st century, as New England continually denied Rex Ryan and Gang Green a chance at Super Bowl glory while collecting ring after ring. Revis was a big part of the rivalry in those days, taunting Patriots receiver Randy Moss at one juncture, but his flip to the New England side helped bring a fourth championship to the franchise. Now he faces a tall task in New York, which doesn’t possess any offensive weapons comparable to Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski. Not that Revis likely cares: He has 70 million reasons to be comfortable back in the Big Apple.
Revis’ journey from foe to friend to foe again brings to mind the best moments in the Patriots-Jets rivalry. There will be two more chances to add to this list in 2015.
